Doping, the way to nowhere.

Bodybuilding and fitness are both sports and a healthy lifestyle.

The principles of bodybuilding and fitness rely on the combination of proper nutrition and regular strength training to achieve peak athletic performance. Bodybuilding and fitness are therefore sports that are clearly linked to health; they are also themselves among the most effective techniques used in anti-aging therapies.

The IFBB has been conducting regular doping controls since 1986; At that time, our founder, the late Ben Weider, led it in collaboration with special advisors such as the late Prof. Dr. Manfred Donike from the IOC Medical Commission, followed by Prof. Dr. Eduardo de Rose and other respected specialists in this critical field.
In 1999, I had the honor of attending the WADA Foundation Congress in Lausanne, Switzerland, as a representative of the IFBB.
The IFBB is committed to the fight against doping in its principles because:
Doping contradicts our principles of a healthy lifestyle.
Doping violates the ethics and laws of sport.

Doping is not only a problem for sports, but also a problem for society in the XXI century.

The IFBB is a signatory to the WADA Code and the IFBB Anti-Doping Rules are consistent with the 2021 World Anti-Doping Code.

The IFBB has introduced a fight against the use of doping in various areas.

*Elaboration and compliance with specific anti-doping control programs, since 1986
*Education of athletes, coaches and national associations through conferences, information brochures and         special courses.

*Inform and encourage members of national federations to maintain active anti-doping programs on         to be introduced at national level

The aim of this document is to provide athletes, officials and national associations with important guidance on the most common concepts of anti-doping procedures, the rules governing them, the details of the collection of doping control samples and the encouragement of an active fight against doping.

The aim is to provide information that can be deepened through the detailed and necessary study of the IFBB Anti-Doping Rules.

We recommend carefully reviewing this content as a preliminary step in studying the IFBB Anti-Doping Code.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank Mauricio Arruda and all IFBB officials who, through their daily contributions, coordinate and implement our anti-doping programs and serve our mission to promote clean sport and a healthy lifestyle.

Best regards

 Dr. Rafael Santonja

 IFBB President.
